Pre-quarantine/pandemic, there was a great neighborhood coffee shop called Free Press here in Springfield, IL, USA. Their daily brew was Tekton by Blueprint Coffee, then they always had another coffee, different each day. They would encourage you to stay as long as you want and heavens knows I read many an e-book there.
Unfortunately, they were unable to “weather the storm ” of COVID. They had no drive-thru to pick up the slack. They intentionally built it to be a neighborhood “hang-out,” but there was no more hanging out.
The one good thing to come from their closure was my being forced to learn a new pour-over technique and shop online for high-quality single-origin coffees.
I truly wish the owners and baristas well.
