My favorite coffeeshop was Muddy’s down by University of Missouri- Kansas City. They knew me and what I drank. The owner loved helping his employees learn more about coffee. He would take them on trips to countries that produce the beans, so they could see it for themselves. There was always a wide range of people who came there- rich & poor, students & professionals, mothers & lawyers.
He eventually retired and sold the place to a couple of his long time employees, but they tried to renovate the place and it never re-opened.
I miss it fondly.
